Pre-assembly
The assembly of electric motors is very extensive as various material components are combined to form a complete and complex product: among other things the inserting of insulating paper into the groove body, the mounting of end caps on the A and B sides of the product including the snapping or gluing.
The verification of the product is done visually in order to prepare for winding.

In order to quantify the success of a winding trial, measurement categories that refer to the producibility of the product must be defined up front.
Especially the copper fill factor should be optimized by winding trials. Furthermore, the observance of installation space is of vital importance.
Windings can significantly vary in their form and manufacturing method depending on the application, available space or certain functional requirements.

Electrical testing
Electrical testing is essential for assessing functional requirements. Commonly measured parameters are the electrical resistance, the capacity, the winding inductance and the insulation resistance.
Moreover, by using the impulse voltage test AWS can detect potential mistake in the winding structure (e.g. a wrong number of windings) because the oscillating circuit works as a distinguishing factor comparable to a thumbprint.
The measurement of the partial discharge inception voltage is also of fundamental significance for the lifetime of a product.
